DAY 4: I FINALLY STARTED

I learnt recently that there are three kinds of people in the world:

1. The talkers: these set of people talk a whole lot and do nothing. They usually talk on things that are their business and things that are not. They can be called the “haters”

2. The dreamers: now I can boldly say I am one of those people. We dream bigggg….it’s extremely good to be a dreamer but u also have to follow up with a plan.

3. The Achievers: Guess what people….I just entered square 1 of this group. WE start the journey to achieving our dreams.

So on to the main gist, I started a business in school….EXCITED RIGHT!! I AM

Okay, so I was told u have to look for a common problem or build on something someone has done. Well, I did.

I started a question and answer business. Now, most of you know I am a medical student. I felt it would be nice to do something worthwhile before I left school and I did.

I AM EXTREMELY PROUD OF MYSELF…WILL TELL U HOW IT GOES

WHAT IS THE NEW VENTURE YOU STARTED DURING THIS NEW YEAR PERIOD

I also have a new Instagram page. Check it out. User name is Millionaire_starlings.

THINGS MAY COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT BUT ONLY THE THINGS LEFT BY THOSE WHO HUSTLE

I was scrolling through my feeds when this image popped up. I felt hit by a bolt of inspiration lightning(if you get what i mean).

Patience is a virtue that has been preached throughout centuries past. The saying “good things come to those who wait”is a very popular saying among youths, parents, even children are getting into the waiting spirit. In business, the act of always waiting is directly proportional to failure: Waiting=Failure

I was talking to someone whose work I greatly admire and he said something very meaningful to me.It went something like this:

There is always opportunity everywhere you look. You are only allowed to see it when you have reached a level of readiness and receptiveness to that particular opportunity waiting. Opportunity never comes knocking. It walks right by and only those who are on the move might catch it.

Some of us sit at home waiting for that idea we have in our heads to come to fruition. We reach the age of sixty still waiting and hoping and hoping for that one miracle. Some of us have great ideas, great skills and talents inside us that are still waiting to come out and bless humanity, but we still wait and wait for that perfect time.

I am going to list some few reasons why some people wait and wait and keep on waiting:

  • Fear: Now fear can be divided into three:-
    • Fear of the unknown: Many of us are scared of leaving what we know to venture into unfamiliar terrain
    • Fear of the hustle: Many of us are scared of the amount of work it might actually take to reach the level we want
    • Fear of people; Many of us are scared of what people will say, how they will say it.
  • laziness: I have to say I am one of the people in this category. We are lazy.Like not the normal nice kind of lazy, but instead the Hey, I cant see myself getting out of bed this year kind of lazy.
  • Dire financial straits: Many people have this problem. They do not have the money to begin what they want to begin so they don’t even try anymore.

Now, I am going to give you the three  keys that I begin to use:

  • Strategize: Think deeply about what you want to do, and the goal you plan to accomplish be it short term and long term goals.
  • Start: Just start small. You never know how far that idea you have might lead you to.
  • Success; Then get prepared for your success bout.

I congratulate you already in advance.

What reasons can you give why people usually keep on waiting and are afraid of the grind?

THE TRUE DEFINITION OF WEALTH

I want to be rich!!

This is the normal statement made by most people today. When asked what wealth means to them, most people immediately think money.

I was one of those. But, what caused my ideologies about wealth to change. Recently, I haven’t been too strong health wise. I remember thinking during one of my weakness and vomiting spells “I had give all the money I have right now just to feel better”.

When I was in the clinic (I was a very noisy patient…once I started feeling better), I was placed in the same room as a little girl of eight. I saw the girl’s face as she cried out in pain and I am pretty sure she would have given everything she had for the pain to stop.

So what am I saying?? I dont think wealth is all about money anymore. Yes, money is part of it but I feel wealth is a cumulation of money, physical wellness, spiritual growth, and even people to share it with😃😃

I still want to be rich oooo….

What’s ur definition of wealth??

Sorry guys!!! Thanks for being so patient…i love u

HOW YOU HOLDING UP??

When i first got this idea for enterpreneurship, it seemed so easy in my head. I figured it would be something you just start and see returns. How wrong I was?

Within this one month, I have had to experience different emotions sometimes all at once: sadness, dismay, despair, frustration, happiness, extreme exhaustion, you name it.

I remember going house to house to tell people about my product and feeling so discouraged at the end of it. I remember feeling like a failure many times because people brush you and your product off.

THINGS I LEARNT WITHIN THIS PERIOD

1. Nothing good ever comes easy. No matter what we believe, the act of enterpreneurship is not easy.

2. The journey always makes for a good story later on.

3. Many times, you have to motivate yourself.

4. Embarrassment is something you get used to.

5. The end is what makes the journey worthwhile.

HUSBAND MATERIAL

Nowadays, we hear guys talking about the term “Wife Material”. I think its time to switch it up. Today am gonna be talking on husband material.

No matter how we pretend, every woman already has an image of her perfect man in her head. It changes as they age, but we still have some characteristics we want.

I am going to be listing what makes a man husband material to me. Here goes nothing.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

1. He must be from 6 ft above…I am already quite tall…and I still love my heels. Cant come and be feeling uncomfortable

2. He should like gymmin but dont be too addicted..I need somebody that will encourage me to go to the gym oo…

3. The smile…I am attracted to smiles…let me not get started on the point of smiles

OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

1. He must love God more than he loves me and he should love me more than he loves himself.

2. He loves my good qualities and accepts and embraces the bad without making me feel guilty for having flaws. I don’t need to hide my true self from him . I can share my true self and be vulnerable and feel safe doing so, knowing that if anything it will make him feel even closer to me.

3. He is there for me when I need him, even if it’s inconvenient for him. I won’t want to feel like i am a disturbance.

4. He is growth-oriented: He is ready to grow both financially, spiritually, mentally and attitude wise.

5. If he is going to be my life partner, you have to both be on the same page when it comes to issues that matter. And if we aren’t on the same page, then make sure he respects where I stand (and vice versa) and that we both are willing to work together to reach a mutually fulfilling middle ground. This can refer to religion, core values, lifestyle preferences, where we want to live, number of kids we want to have.

6. The relationship is something more than just I and him… together we are a team. And as that team, we are both individually stronger than you could be on your own. He sees me as his equal, as someone of great value who he can grow with.

He respects everything about me- mu thoughts, ambitions, opinions, the things I say, the company I keep, yo. He doesn’t make me feel bad about my life circumstances and he appreciates the person I am and the choices I have made.

7. We’re able to communicate with each other, even about tough issues and even if one person is upset with the other.

8. He is trustworthy

9. He is a good comminicator…and he should have a sensse of humor

10. An attention giver.

What is your view on relationships? Add things you look for a relationship. Guys, is it possible to have all theae characteristics.

EVERYONE WILL LAUGH UNTIL THEY DONT

I was on Instagram today and i got interested in an enterpreneur called Andrew a 22 year old enterpreneur who has been featured in Forbes magazine two times. Like that’s extremely big.

He mentioned that when he started, people actually looked at his dream like it was stupid, it was too big. When I read this, it was like i was hit by a lightning of inspiration.

Many of us are scared to actually follow up on ideas because we are scared of what people will say. We are like “No, I can’t try it. I cant go into this business. What if i fail? What will people say?”. Due to that fear, many of us keep our God given potentials hidden for life.

I agree with Andrew when he said that everyone will laugh till they dont. I want to believe its human nature to laugh at things they dont agree with.

Why dont u let go of what everyone is saying and let your results speak for you. No matter what you want to do, most people will never understand the level of your dream. So why not show them by actually doing it.

I know it’s not easy to be different. Its very annoying when people laugh at your dreams. I have been there. I know how it feels for someone to laugh in your face because your dream seem so far and unachievable.

Advice: Fuel up all that rage and passion and use it to actually go after your dreams. Dont let anyone tell you your dream is too big, too small. Go for it. And let your results show itself.

THE TRUE MEANING OF EDUCATION

Most parents have a particular dream for their children: Go to school, get a good grade, get a good job, get married, have kids and be able to take care of them.

Thats not bad. Children are sent to these schools, and are taught maths, English, and numerous other courses so hard to count.

But, what truly is education. We are always told to go to school and get good grades. But is education all about the grades? I feel it could be something a little bit more.

According to this dictionary, education is defined as the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.

Do we often get educated in schools and colleges? We are usually taught intellectual education but the concept of value based education is usually avoided. We are made to read all these crazily large books that teacch us all these subjects but where do we get books that affect US.

Education that does not train the heart also can be dangerous. Education that builds fundamental human traits of character-such as honesty, compassion, courage and responsibility is absolutely essential.

We don’t need more academic education; we need more value based education. A person who is morally educated will be a lot better equipped to move up in life or succeed than a morally bankrupt person with excellent academic qualifications.

Universities are turning out highly skilled barbarians because we dont provide a framework of values to young people, who more and more are searching for it.

YOU CAN SUCCEED!!!

The foundation of success regardless of your chosen venture is ATTITUDE. Many people now have taken on the mediocre attitude of failure.

When our attitude is right, we realize that we r all walking on acres and acres of opportunity. All we need to do is recognize it.

When our attitude is right, we realize that even if we fail a thousand times, we can still succeed. Many people get discouraged because of all the numerous failures they have experienced. They fall and forget to rise again.

WHAT IS SUCCESS

I was reading a book recently titled “YOU CAN WIN” By Shiv Khera. He defined success as follows.

– Success is a manifestation of good luck that results from inspiration, aspiration, desperation and perspiration. For you to achieve success, you must have a drive to succeed and you must be ready to work for it. When opportunities come knocking and you are not ready, it leaves.

2. Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal- EARL NIGHTINGLE. Without a goal, what exactly is success? You have to have a set goal

Failure is the highway to success. Tom Watson of IBM said, “If you want to succeed, double your failure rate”. I remember the time I had my first idea pitch rejected. I wanted to curl up and die. But to succeed, you have to forge ahead and continue. That’s DETERMINATION.

SOME OBSTACLES TO SUCCESS

-Ego

-No plan

-Procastination

-Fear of failure

-Lack of persistence

-Lack of commitment

History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heart breaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by defeats.

B.C Forbes

Trials in life can be tragedies or triumphs, depending on how we handle them. No triumph without effort.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Winners dont do different things, they do things differently. Shiv Khera

Wife Material 101

In Africa, it has become a common norm for men to talk about “wife material”. In other word, a woman who can cook, clean, wash his clothes and be the typical African woman.

Now, I dont have an issue with marriage. It was ordained by God and I am also a romantic at heart. It becomes an issue for me when a woman is expected to lose her identity just because she is married.

But women still shoulder the bulk of the housekeeping and childrearing, even when working full-time. A married man is likely to pursue his career as though he were still single, while a married woman is expected to forfeit her public life to follow her husband or care for the young, the old, and the infirm of the family.

Its not uncommon for a man to be seen listing his characteristics for wife material or a woman being told to conform herself to what a man wants

I don’t want that…I do not believe I need to lie, or pretend just because i want to be seen as wife material.

I want a marriage that is a partnership. I want a marriage where we r both equals. i want a marriage where my husband doesn’t feel it makes him less of a man to help around the house. I want a marriage where nobody is afraid to do another person’s job. I can change the light bulbs and he can cook. I want a marriage with someone who will push me to achieve my goal, who doesn’t get threatened at my success.

And you know what, I believe that God always gives us the right person for us. I am not afraid to wait till i find that because I know my worth.

Whats your opinion on marriage as a partnership?
